New studio lighting!

I’m so excited we finally purchased studio lighting.  Blake became my first willing subject this morning just after breakfast.  He is rockin’ out his pajamas.

The kids brought out their pillows and sleeping animals for some shots.  They were not cooperating at all so I switched to taking a few shots of the animals.  The fish on the far left along with the far right bear and monkey are Blake’s.  The other bear and bunny belong to Madison.  She has to have hers in the bed with her but rarely cuddles them.  He really cares for his and cuddles them.  In fact, if he gets up in the middle of the night or early in the morning he brings all three of them with him into our room.  Even if he only needs to go potty, I’m pretty sure he is hoping the four of them get to spend the remainder of the night in our bed.

The kids have been sick since last Saturday which has been a bummer.  I haven’t bothered them to be my subjects this week as I had hoped.  Today they finally showed signs of getting back to normal so I plan on trying out some other things with them tomorrow.

A few weeks ago I was the second shooter at a wedding.  It was so strange meeting the bride for the first time at the event.  With the relationship building I do prior to a shoot it’s more like meeting an old friend to share a special day with her when I show up to my booked weddings.  The photographer I shot with is a great friend and it was such a fun experience.  She is as passionate about photography as I am.   We both enjoyed seeing how others work and there was almost no need to communicate what the other was doing.  We just jelled together.  She was also so sweet to bring me a sandwich, fresh fruit and cold water to snack on.

Yellow beauty

The bride and groom both asked their children to be their bridesmaids and groomsmen.  After all, it was the children who got to know each other first bringing the two love birds together.  Here are the boys.

The groomsmen

They were both so happy.

Happy moment

I love coming up with different ways to photograph the rings at weddings.  This time a simple hand holding them was perfection.

Coming together

The large gathering of family and friends making their way from the chapel to the hall for the reception as they were reviewing the wedding ceremony, chatting and laughing.

The crowd

I often get funny ideas by looking around at what is available.  These masks just happened to be on a shelf in the girls dressing room.  The bridesmaids giggled, decided which one they wanted and we got a fun shot.  The youngest of the three pictured here is also interested in photography.

The Bridesmaids

I think the grooms family is the most open to sharing emotion I have ever met.  The groom had so many special teary moments with his brothers and sisters.  This image is just one of the many we had the opportunity to capture.

Family moment

Special thanks to my friend, Tammy, of Tammy Fisher Photography for asking me to be her special shooter at this wonderful wedding.

Lots of great stuff coming

We are enjoying our fabulous time in Arizona. I have some wonderful pictures to show you soon. We are looking forward to the wedding tomorrow! Kristi & I met on Tuesday night to finish talking all about the wedding and preview some of the great products we offer. There will be no Fine Art Friday showcase today, because we are short on time. Have a great weekend!
